black-ish Is Ending...???

UPDATE: I stumbled over this article and it has some words from Kenya Barris where he states some rating reasons. It’s some other stuff, but I’m still reading. You can read HERE.

Now on the podcast, me and Crowned ReRe talk about the respected black TV shows and their length of seasons on air. A Different World had 6 seasons. Martin had 5 seasons. Even The Cosby Show had 8 seasons (I’m sure it would have been cut short, for whatever reasons). Another beloved show has been added to the ‘end of the road’: black-ish.

…shocking.

Actor/director/writer Anthony Anderson appeared on The Breakfast Club and spoke about the reasons for the cancellation. “We are an expensive show to me…and it comes down to the dollars and cents,” states Anderson. Out of all of the studying and following how television networks work, I didn’t think that money would be the factor of a show canceling. Usually someone’s character not being effective in the storyline causes for a finale, or the ratings don’t exceed the quota…but money? That’s new to me…and something to research.

We also talk about how it’s great to see black joy on TV. I can’t remember seeing a positive black family represented on TV since My Wife And Kids…and even then…The Cosby Show…?? I can’t remember seeing a vast amount of positivity that looks like me on a high-profiled network (ABC is the network).

…hmmm.

Check out season 8 trailer and Anthony Anderson’s interview below. Do you think it’s a cop-out to remove us from their networks, or do you feel that this is fair game for the finale? Let us know in the comments!
