The Astroworld Aftermath

First thing first: rest in peace to the lives that were lost in this very unfortunate situation. We’re sending blessings and full healing to the families and friends who have to endure this. Prayers and power.

Now to ease into the conversation carefully, I came across the video below while fixing my boredom and thought about the recent discussion I had with Crowned ReRe on our latest podcast episode. We both agreed that all of the backlash shouldn’t be put fully on Travis Scott. We also acknowledged his possible remorse for the situation (it’s still some humans with hearts that exist in this world). Another perspective came about when I watched the video.

Peace to Brian ‘B.Dot’ Miller and his role in media and music. Between him, Jinx, and a few others, it’s good to see them in these media spaces. With that, seeing B.Dot on CNN speaking on the conditions of what transpired was good.

In the video, they speak on the 18 lawsuits that have been stored. They also speak about the history of Travis Scott’s shows (this has occurred numerous times, but this go ‘round was fatal). This is where the perspective kicked in. I see both sides, but is it possible for things to come to an even ground?

This is the question I ask the readers. When we view the state of the world, the way that its covered (media plays a role in all situations, IMO), the severity of…basically anything, the caliber of the artist that’s being ‘targeted’, is there a factor that can be developed or reinstated, with hopes of things returning to normalcy? Do we put responsibility on the artist…a hip hop artist, at that…to have control over the fans? Where was the barricade and who controlled that? It’s more questions and scenarios I can roll out, but I wanted to share my thoughts, and more so, get the readers of this to think more than what’s on the surface.
