‘I take pictures because they last longer’…her motto on Twitter. The pictures that she’s captured shows a lot of her inspiration and drive for her end goals. She recently started a project. A wonderful gesture in showing love to the Duval creatives. It’s also a wonderful trait she has to keep the culture afloat…or…in the skies. Introducing…Ava McQuay.
1. What do you like most about being a photographer? Why?
What I like most about being a photographer is capturing an image that can tell a story, but the fun thing about telling a story with photography is that a story can be told differently based off who is viewing the photo. It can spark different emotions based off who views the photo. I love hearing different perspectives and how the photo makes someone feel! Being able to spark different feels based off something I created is magical. It tells me that the viewer is interested and invested! That’s what drives me to be creative with my work and one of the bonuses of being a photographer.
2. What is your favorite lens?
My favorite lens would be the Sigma Art 35mm. I have paired it with my Canon Eos 77D and it’s the perfect combination! The quality of the lens is amazing! Clear photos and super fast auto focusing.
3. What projects are you working on... or would like to work on?
Right now, I am currently working on a project called “Blue Wall Creatives”…this is my first project as a photographer. This project is my way of giving back to the many creatives in Jacksonville. I feel like there are certain areas in the city that aren’t aware of the talents Jacksonville possesses. Over the past few years, I have seen many talented individuals share their passion with Jacksonville and have not received the love they deserve. So, I decided to create Blue Wall Creatives to bring awareness to the many creatives in Jacksonville.
4. What would be your dream shoot?
My dream shoot would be a conceptual shoot with Travis Scott. I love his aesthetic and it would be a dream of mine to come up with the most creative shoot I could think of while using his look, attitude, and style.
