What To Buy A Music Lover?? Holiday Gift Tips

What to buy for Christmas and what to buy for music lovers.

The holiday day is upon us all and it’s time to get the ideas flowing on gifts, cheers, and more food *rubs tummy*. Throughout the holiday, we’ll be rolling out some content that’ll hopefully help get you through finding the right gift and float around the season with good vibes.

For starters, we’ll focus on all the tastemakers and music lovers in the world! Do you have that cousin that talks about music all the time or do you have a parent that loves the Jazz genre?? Do you know a friend that is an up and coming musician in their own right?? Well…here are some platforms that are cool to bless your cousin, father, and/or friend with and how you can fill their (virtual) stockings with!

Bandcamp

This is a great online music store that has an enormous amount of music from musicians all around the world! For an artist, it’s a great benefit because the payment structure is up to what the artist chooses to set the amount to be…AND it gives the consumers an option to pay more, if they choose to. Some of the artists have merch, vinyls, and a newsletter to keep the old and new fans up on their happenings.

The simple way to bless the music lover is to give them a gift card and let them have fun with digging in the crates. Yes…there is Apple and Spotify, but Bandcamp has this stellar platform to bring attention to musicians that we wouldn’t know exists. With buying a gift card, you’re giving the option to exposure your music geek friend (or family member) to some new jams! What a way to support indie artists while enjoying the exclusives. Paetron

This platform is membership-based and it gives creators (musicians, podcasters, journalists, etc.) the power to control their content while earning some coins. Paetron is a cool tool to have the creator’s fans pay them directly for exclusive content, how-to videos, unreleased songs, and more.

Now for that music lover you’re wanting to buy for, you can find out what artists they love and buy a subscription for that artist’s page. Soul musician Eric Roberson currently has a page where you can pay $5 per month to have access to his music and his journey. If you do a yearly subscription, that’ll have the music lover happy the whole calendar year! Joe Budden has multiple tiers that’ll give a better example of what content he’s offering.

Mixcloud

Like Bandcamp, Mixcloud is a streaming platform that prides on the audio culture. You’re able to discover new artists (more so known for DJs and music curators), support their causes, and be part of a community that is all about the audio!

If the music lover is looking to share their DJ mixes or share a song they’re looking to get feedback on, Mixcloud has the specialties to do such. They also offer a tier of $15 a month that’ll give them some tools to expand their reach. Also, it’ll handle that funky copyright stuff!

So the music lover isn’t an inspiring singer or DJ, you can still find dope musicians and subscribe to their pages for the treats. Los Angeles, California-based DJ EXCEL has a subscription for $2.99 a month and he offers exclusive mixes, tracklists, offline listening, and more. Listening a mix now and they’re about to get this $3!

YouTube Premium

YouTube is the house of a lot of content, from videos, music, and more. With the YouTube Premium, you can watch ad-free videos, download music to listen offline, experience the luxury of background play where you can play YouTube in the background while you maneuver through your phone, and much more! They offer 3 free months, then after that, it’s $11.99 (it’s well worth it). Check out the plans HERE.

Alright, now you have some tips to buying your music lover friend and a family member that nifty gift card or subscription. There isn’t any wrong with these options! Make sure you’re locked in to our articles that’ll come out throughout the month. Happy hunting and holidays!
