Therapy, Not Therapy Podcast: Episode 3.6 - “Alexa, Play ‘Don’t Touch My Hair’”
This week, we’re talking about HAIR! Specifically “Black Hair” and the layers and complexities that encompass living with hair that doesn’t fit the imposed Euro-centric, idealistic standards of naturally silky, fine, straightness.
The fact that nearly every Black or Brown person has had to endure some sort of “Hair Journey” in their life is a testament to how interwoven societal pressures and prejudices have been ingrained into our psyches. From hot combs and creamy crack, to embracing our natural hair patterns and grades, and incorporating protective styles so we can (safely) rock our 48 piece wigs - we’re getting to the root of our Crowns and unpacking it all - one bundle at a time.
