*The MPN Network has started a series of articles where we highlight a photographer and their work. We hope that you enjoy the testimonies and their art*

You’ve probably seen him at a local event snapping pictures. You’ve also seen him throw pop up events around town. Outside of being a photographer, he’s earned the emcee, curator, and videographer titles. Last month, he did a series of photoshoots with some of the Jacksonville, Florida’s creatives. For Marquis Walker, it’s not the beginning of the road paving. It’s the continuation of the path he took.

Along with a brief interview, check out his work and his ‘blvck creatives’ video below. Follow his socials for updates. Let’s begin the ‘Picture Perfect’ string.

What is your favorite subject to photograph?

People mainly. I love catching people in genuine moments with natural expressions. It helps the picture come alive to me.

Whose work has influenced you most?

Malcom aka Malc Jax, Toni Smailagic, and Julian Jones.

How do you educate yourself to take better photos?

Trial and error. Can’t forget YouTube University either *laughs*.

How would you describe your photography style?

Candid portrait shots would be the best description for my work. Colorful time capsules of intimate moments.

What do you like most about being a photographer? Why?

That I get to create how the subject look from my perspective. It helps them see themselves in a way or light that they never thought of. I love photography and making people smile. I feel like the work I create helps me satisfy both.

What is your favorite lens?

The nifty fifty aka the 50mm is always my go to, but now, my new lens might be the 17-70mm 2.8f.

What is your influence/inspiration for taking pictures?

Creating something that hasn’t been done or helping put creatives more on the forefront. I enjoy highlighting people that I admire.

What project(s) are you working on…or would like to work on?

I’m working on a short film at the moment. I plan on releasing it sooner than later.

What would be your dream photoshoot?

Any cover shoot for a popular magazine. I really want to do a GQ cover. Hell, I want to be the actual model for a GQ cover *laughs*!

What is your style of photography?

Portrait photography.
